The Larry H. Miller Co., which oversees the Miller family's business platforms, including real estate, senior health, sports and entertainment, and investments, has announced the election of Cindy Baier to its board of directors. Baier joins the board following the retirement of Robert Restrepo, who served for 10 years. Baier is the former president, CEO and member of the board of directors of Brookdale Senior Living, an operator of senior living communities. Before becoming CEO of Brookdale, she served as the company's chief financial officer and held executive leadership roles at both private and public companies. She published a book in 2002 titled Heroes Work Here: An Extraordinary Story of Courage, Resilience, and Hope from the Front Lines of COVID-19, which demonstrates how she and her team responded to the pandemic. Baier currently serves as immediate past chair on the board of directors of the Nashville Health Care Council; the board of the Tennessee Business Leaders Council; the advisory board of NACD Nashville; and the Vanderbilt University Medical Center Board, where she chairs the Quality and Safety Committee and serves on the Audit and Compliance Committee.
