To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Larry H. Miller Utah Open, the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation on Aug. 10 announced a $100,000 gift to Special Olympics Utah.
The announcement took place during the Short Game Challenge, a beloved Utah Open tradition that has brought Special Olympics athletes together with Utah celebrities and community leaders for more than 20 years. The Utah Open was played last week at Riverside Country Club in Provo.
“The Short Game Challenge is a special tradition that brings athletes, community members and friends together to celebrate what is possible when everyone has the opportunity to participate, compete and belong,” said Scott Weaver, president and CEO of Special Olympics Utah, in a release. “We are incredibly grateful to the Larry H. & Gail Miller Family Foundation for its continued partnership and generous support. This gift will help us continue our mission of creating meaningful opportunities for athletes to build confidence, develop skills and experience the power of inclusion.”

Special Olympics Utah provides year-round sports training and athletic competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Through sports, athletes build confidence, develop new skills and form lasting friendships while becoming active members of their communities. The Miller Family Foundation’s gift will help expand those opportunities and programming for athletes throughout Utah.
