Dorsey & Whitney LLP has added Dan Higgs in Salt Lake City as of counsel in its patent group. For more than 20 years, Higgs has practiced patent law in both private practice and as in-house counsel. He represents clients in building and managing U.S. and international patent portfolios, conducting product clearance analyses and intellectual property due diligence, preparing non-infringement and invalidity opinions, and navigating post-grant proceedings at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. His industry experience, while focused on medical devices and other healthcare technologies, spans a range of technologies. Prior to joining Dorsey, Higgs was a partner at a patent boutique firm. He previously served for more than seven years as chief intellectual property counsel of MedVenture (now Wasatch Health), where he worked directly with MedVenture portfolio companies at every stage to manage all aspects of their IP. Higgs’ education includes a B.S. degree in physics from the University of Utah.
