Patrick Rombalski
Joyce University of Nursing and Health Sciences, based in Draper, has promoted Dr. Patrick Rombalski to president.
Rombalski, previously chief operating officer, will report to CEO Josh Knotts. Knotts was appointed president and CEO in October of last year after serving as interim president and CEO since March of that year.
Rombalski joined the university earlier this year. In announcing his promotion, the university said he has played a central role in driving growth, strengthening university operations and advancing priorities focused on innovation and student success.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead Joyce and mindful of the responsibility that comes with it,” Rombalski said. “This university changes lives, for our students and for the patients and communities they will go on to serve. Joyce has tremendous momentum, and we have an opportunity to build on it by staying focused on what matters most: academic excellence, strong student outcomes and preparing exceptional nurses.
“We want to open the door to nursing education for more people, and we want every student who walks through that door to receive an education that prepares them exceptionally well for the profession.”
Rombalski has nearly three decades of experience across higher education, including extensive work in nursing and health professions education. Before joining Joyce, he served as chief operating officer of Chamberlain University, one of the nation’s largest nursing schools, with broad responsibility for university operations across its 20-plus campuses, online, post-licensure and graduate programs, serving nursing students nationwide.
His career also includes senior leadership roles at several nationally recognized universities, including serving as vice president for student affairs at Boston College and John Carroll University and teaching graduate courses at Georgetown University and Boston College. He earned his Doctor of Education in higher education management from the University of Pennsylvania.
“Patrick has spent his career making sure students get the very best from the institutions that serve them, and I’ve seen that firsthand at Joyce,” Knotts said. “He brings people together around our students and their success. We have big ambitions for Joyce and for what nursing education can become, and Patrick is the right president to help us realize them.”
Founded in 1979, Joyce University currently enrolls students in 17 states. It is institutionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges. This fall, the university welcomed its largest enrollment to date; continued its expansion into new states; and launched BSN90, the nation’s first accredited 90-credit pathway to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree.
