
Light-Hope Diagnostics Inc., a Salt Lake City-based biotech startup developing blood tests for early cancer detection, has added Varun Shankar as AI/ML advisor. He will provide strategic guidance on the development of advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning models. Shankar is an assistant professor in the Kahlert School of Computing at the University of Utah and an expert in scientific machine learning, scientific computing and high-performance computing. His research focuses on developing efficient, scalable and mathematically rigorous machine learning methods for scientific, engineering and medical applications. Shankar also serves as associate director of the Master of Software Development program, associate chair at the UofU Fintech Center, and director of the Scientific Computing Track at the Kahlert School. His education includes a Ph.D. in scientific computing from the University of Utah.
